Back in the 1980s, Penny Faulkner was stabbed nearly 20 times, burned and dumped in a field by now adult convicted killers David Croft and Jeffrey Murphy.

Croft and Murphy were teens when they killed their 17 year old classmate in 1983. On Wednesday, the two adults were back in court to face a parole board.

“We seek justice for Penny not revenge,” John Faulkner told the board. “We ask you please remember that Penny begged for her life, and Murphy and Croft said no. We ask you to say no [to their release] today.”

Her brothers didn’t want sympathy for their sister’s killer, but a prison minister did for at least one of the men. Minister Vinnie Ammirato asked the parole board to give Croft a second chance.

“I’m asking you to have mercy on David,” Ammirato told the board. “Give him a chance, and if he messes up,

I won’t be here no more, because I really believe in this man 100 percent.”

Penny’s family reminded the board their sister didn’t get a second chance.

“We live with this nightmare in our lives everyday, wondering what her husband would be like her children or just imagine the person she would be,” Penny’s brother, Rob, said.

After weighing the testimony of each person at the hearing, the board denied parole for both the men.

It was an emotional relief for Penny’s family.

‘We feel like justice is continuing to be served,” Rob Faulkner said. “While it’s never going to be easy for us, we’re going to live with this for the rest of our lives. The impact that those two men chose to have on our family is something we’re going to live with everyday. We’re thankful we have a justice system that has made the decision to keep them behind bars.”

Croft and Murphy could be up for parole again in 2018.

The board stated it denied parole for the murderers based on the brutality of their murder,

the vulnerability of the victim and the high risk the men still pose to the public.

[India], May 4 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said that RSS affiliated Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) appeal to the Muslim community to shun beef and adopt the cow is a suggestion, not a command, adding that the former says it should be done through education.

Swamy told ANI, “I think one has to go back and see when Bahadur Shah Zafar was made king of liberated India in 1857 by the Hindus, the first instruction that was issued was a ban on cow slaughter because he know it is the best way to maintain public order.”

“Even the Quran says cow meat is not to be eaten. The purpose of the meeting is to put forward some thinking points in front of the decision makers of the community and arrive at a consensus,” said Indresh Kumar, a senior RSS pracharak and convener of MRM.

He further said that the ‘Arabs shunned beef for many years and that eating beef is something that has come up recently among Muslims’.

“Over 150 Muslim families across India are already running gaushalas. We have identified them and we want them to be the examples for the community,” he added.(ANI)

Greensboro, Greenville (SC) and Greenville (NC) cause a lot of confusion and that dilutes a city’s brand identity. This is also true for Charleston (SC), Charleston (WV), Charlottesville (VA) and even sometimes Charlotte (NC).

As for W S, the Triad didn’t even get mentioned at all until the 13th page of this thread. That’s pretty sad. I at least mentioned W S in my reply to Greensboro!

There are many ways that W S gets slighted. Secondly, the airport code (GSO GreenSborO) doesn’t even give a nod to Winston Salem. Compare that to RDU which references both Raleigh and Durham in its code.

I don’t understand why Houstonians seem to always be comparing themselves to Dallas. In Dallas, Houston is almost never brought up, and if you say you’re from Houston, they still treat you like anyone else. Unlike Houston where if you say you’re from Dallas you’ll get some bad vibes.

Almost reminds me of the Portland/Seattle or SF/LA rivalries. Usually the one city is like a the younger/less mature sibling comparing themselves to the older/wiser one, while the wiser one really doesn’t give two honks and sees the less mature one with an endearing eye.

I spent one week in a training class for work in Dallas years ago. A few people in the class were from Dallas. A few others were from Houston. I could definitely sense that the Houston people had a chip on their shoulder about Dallas. I almost wish I could go back in time and to an alternate universe to see how they would have acted if the class had been in Houston instead.

What is it that makes Dallas more sexy then Houston? From an outsider looking in I “prefer” Houston in that it is traditional layout of a core city and smaller suburbs. A couple of nice bypasses/beltlines and it has a port by way of Gaslveston. And I mean that from just arbitrary preferences when staring at it on a map. Dallas was definitely a lot of fun and I would love to go back. But it seems losing the Oilers, not having a TV show, and maybe being associated with NASA may have some negative impacts on Houston? I remember reading somewhere how most people would be “surprised” that Houston is the third largest city and not Chicago, even though NYC, LA and Chicago were most people perceptions is 1,2 and 3.

1. Jacksonville, FL with Miami and Tampa in the state it gets overlooked even though it is the largest cit yin Florida with over 800,000 people. Maybe because it is so spread out?

2. El Paso, TX Texas has Houston,
ugg leather boots sale Most Ignored Major Cities trailer
San Antonio, and Dallas Fort Worth and being in West Texas I’m sure doesn’t do much for it by itself.

3. San Jose, CA For its size as the number three city in the state it does not get a lot of attention. Plenty of smaller cities are talked about much more often.

4. Fresno, CA Maybe because there are so many large cities in California or maybe because it lies in the San Joaquin Valley but for over half a million people I hardly hear about it.

5. Fort Wayne, IN Even though it gained 50,000 people in the past 10 years. I hear it talked about more locally, but not on a national level.

6. Henderson, NV I’ll say because of rapid growth putting it over 250,000 people (just as Fort Wayne above) and Las Vegas being so near by that it hasn’t received much attention. Maybe in another 20 years.

7. Lincoln, NE Yet another city that just made it past my arbitrary mark in the past 10 years although it has been the second largest city in Nebraska for years and the University of Nebraska is located there.

8. Stockton, Ca Again, I would have to say other cities in California get noticed more and it’s location further away from the ocean doesn’t help it.

9. Corpus Christi, TX I hear more about Texas A basketball team than I do about the city itself. It has a good location and isn’t too far away from the likes of larger cities such as Houston and San Antonio. I’m not sure why it’s rarely talked about.

10. Riverside, CA The county as a whole doesn’t seem to get a lot of attention, but seems to get more mention that the cities.

11. Santa Ana, CA Anaheim is right there and it seems that when talking about the area the county (Orange County) is used rather than the city a lot.

12. Bakersfield, Ca It seems that even though it recorded 100,000 new residents in the past 10 years that in comparison to other California cities that it isn’t as ideal. Maybe that’s why it does not get as much recognition.

So there may be some disagreement with the cities that I chose or my criteria, but I stuck with a strict 250,000

people and did not consider economic power into this because it was not specified in the OP and I just wanted to keep this simple.

Do those haunted mazes/houses/hayrides filled with fake chainsaws, mirrors and performers who aren’t allowed to touch you do absolutely nothing for you? Do you need more gore? More assault? More physiological torture?

Awesome! You’ve come to the right place. Of course, if you feel an urge to have more gore, assault and torture in your life, then maybe the right place for you is therapy.

But not until after Halloween! Because you don’t want to miss any of these haunted attractions from across the country that go above and beyond the normal haunted mazes. And by “go above and beyond,” we mean they go straight to hell and they bring you along with them.

Imagine your worst nightmares. Clowns? Possessed children? Snakes? OK, now imagine you have to experience all of your worst nightmares as make your way through a 40,000 square foot haunted house. According to the website, the 13th Gate has such fun activities like crawling through an old crematory oven and getting lost in pitch black underground tunnels! Yay! Bonus: The makeup and special effects crew that bring 13th Gate to life are Hollywood trained, so the performers look legit. (Read: scary as hell).

You have to sign a waiver before you enter this 18 and older only haunted house because you will experience “extreme horror, adult sexual content, tight spaces, darkness, fog, strobe light effects, exposure to water, physical contact, and crawling,” among other things. So yeah, this is one of the places where the actors can touch you. People who have gone through Blackout have talked about getting groped, being forced to put things in their mouths, getting faux waterboarded, walking down a hallway covered in “used” condoms and dealing with scenarios like someone fake peeing on them. And you are given a safe word for when it all becomes too much. Imagine Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story brain coming to life and that’s Blackout. Oh, and by the way, you have to do this thing alone.

4. Haunted Hoochie at Dead Acres in Pataskala, Ohio

This is a full 21 and over immersion into a haunted house (as long as you sign a waiver because there is extreme physical contact, fake blood and water involved), and you could start out your experience with getting duct tape slapped over your eyes and mouth. And yes, you are in danger of being shoved in a clothes dryer at any point in time. A lot of people can’t make it through this whole thing without screaming the safe word. You up for it?

When it comes to designer clothes, one of the more unappreciated countries when it comes to fashion contributions is Australia. And while there are successful fashion trends originating from the Country Down Under, only a few is as recognizable and as widely used as the ugg boot. Produced in different countries around the world, the concept of these boots are utilized by different apparel brands. But only a few out there has made them with the level of mastery associated with UGG Australia.

Uggs are unisex boots made from sheepskin. These boots are tanned on the outside, fleeced on the inside, and has a synthetic sole. First developed as utilitarian footwear, these boots are best known for its superior comfort. An additional benefit is it gives warmth to its wearer’s feet. As such, these boots are very popular in places with cold weather. But it gained notoriety overseas mainly because people think they are very fashionable.

During the early 1970s, uggs are brought into American consciousness thanks to surfers. Some of these surfers loved these boots when they chanced on getting into Australia, and as a result they imported some pairs in the USA. Most of the early uggs in America were sold in California, where surfing is considered to be a big time sport. They immediately caught on with the public, and supply of course must meet with the rising demand. Recognizing this new niche market, Brian Smith and Doug Jensen established an ugg boot distributing company in 1978. Eventually, they made their own boots and the company is since known as UGG Australia.

This company has since been known for producing boots that have specifications exacting (or at least almost) that of authentic Australian uggs. Their original sheepskin boots are named the “Classic”. Designed for both men and women, boots made by UGG feature all the traits that people love about uggs. Not only does it keep the feet fresh and comfy in most weather conditions, but they also look very classy for most outfits too. In the beginning,
waterproof uggs uk More Than Just Boots
its niche market consists only of surfers, but their products have actually caught on with the mainstream public. In fact, wearing them is considered as a fashion trend since the early 2000s.

But if you think UGG Australia is all about boots, think again. They now feature an expanded product line that features a distinctive Australian flavor. The products they make include clothing, outerwear, bags, gloves, hats, and other accessories. The addition of these products has greatly expanded their market. In fact, it’s easy to say that it played a big role in expanding overall sales for the brand. In fact, Deckers Outdoor, the current owner of this company, has reported a sale of almost 700 million dollars in 2008.

If you think Australian fashion is all about safari suits, think again. If you want to experience a bit of Australian fashion and ingenuity, it’s time for you to try the products, especially the boots,

of UGG Austalia. You definitely will not regret it.

black ugg boots size 5 More budget tips from wedding planner Donnie Brown

uggs bags More budget tips from wedding planner Donnie Brown

Donnie Brown, a wedding planner in Dallas, said draperies and lighting are two of the easiest and least expensive ways to add to drama and sophistication to a wedding or reception.

I wrote about Brown’s budget saving ideas in today’s Life section. He also said linens can make a big difference in the feel of a room. If a venue doesn’t provide linens, he urges brides to rent them. Many rental companies offer them for $25 to $37 each; if there are 10 tables, it can cost as little as $250 for a lot of look.

While even most celebrites have a budget in mind (it’s just much bigger than most brides), the easiest way for brides to get the wedding of their dreams and save money is to hire a wedding planner.

“Don’t ever consider a wedding planner expensive,” he said. “Consider them an expense you can’t live without.”

Wedding planners can save money on flowers because they use florists regularly and can buy at wholesale. They know the trends, the different ways to cut expenses, the small things you can do to make your wedding different.

“You want your wedding to have an edge to it,” he said. ” Hire a wedding planner so they can help you make your wedding fresh. Girls want all their girlfriends to say this is the nicest wedding I’ve been to they want that response.”

Other budget cutting ideas to think about:

Buffets can be more expensive than seated dinners because buffets must be constantly replenished so guests can eat to their heart’s content.

Consider European dining service, one of Brown’s signatures. Have wait staff bring mutliple entrees and courses on a platter to the table. Guests can select fish, chicken or beef, but when the food is gone, it’s gone.

Or opt for dual entrees instead of 8 oz. of fish, give them 4 oz. of beef and 4 oz. of fish.

Forget national averages for the cost of a wedding. You don’t have to spend $15,000 on a gown. Consider one of last year’s styles at a fraction of the cost. They’re still beautiful gowns, and who really is going to know that it was in last year’s collection. What’s the point of spending all your money on a gown if you can’t afford flowers or food, he said.

Use a credit card (one that’s different from the one you use on a regular basis) to pay for your wedding. Pay it off each month, and make sure it has a bonus program (air miles, hotels, etc.) so you get a benefit from all the money you’re spending on your wedding.

Whether you use a wedding planner or not, determine what percentage of budget should go into each category food, flowers, lighting, etc. Meet with each vendor with a dollar figure in mind.

A simple wedding can be just as beautiful as an elaborate one.

Remember, the reception is where 80 percent of the money goes.
