The Soroptimist movement has special consultative status at the UN, meaning the organisation can submit information and comments to relevant committees at Ecosoc.
As part of its membership of Soroptimist International, the Darlington and District group is required to report its activities that meet UN goals and objectives, which then counts towards maintaining the organisation’s status at the UN.
Mrs Clark said she had found the opportunity to exchange ideas and information with women from all over the world had given her a fresh view of the matters which concern Soroptimists. She encouraged each member to be more involved by keeping herself informed and by lobbying.
Darlington District’s UN based activities include the Loves Me, Loves Me Not project concerning violence against women, and their involvement in campaigns against FGM and human trafficking.
